South Asia Christian Communities in Crisis

April 26, 2020

The not so good news: the quarantine has been extended to May 9th.

The good news: help has been provided for 6 Bangladeshi and 6 Pakistani villages, a total of 12 villages, some 10,000 people. The local believers suffer greatly, but we have seen some great acts of compassion and Christian love—people sharing their food with non-Christian neighbors, who suffer equally. God’s servants helping sacrificially with distribution. Thus far we have done 2 rounds of help. We are entering the 3rd round next. These believers suffer famine and need continued help. Desperate new villages line up for help as well.

Distribution in Pakistan

Distribution in Bangladesh

Thank you to all who contributed to this cause. Since this report, we did another round of help for 647 families in Pakistan. Sadly, one man committed suicide by hanging due to starvation in one of the villages. They sent me a photo—too disturbing to post here though. His wife passed away 3 years ago. He left children behind. We also received request for help from 4 new villages in Bangladesh. In both countries the situation is getting more desperate with each passing day. Let’s try to help them the best we can!
